For that reason Shikshashree scheme has been launched for them. Through this scheme school girls of tribal communities will get annual grant. Objective of ‘Shikshasree’ project : The main objective of this project is to bring girls from Scheduled Castes and Tribes families back to the mainstream of education by curbing the trend of school dropouts. The primary and minimum cost of schooling is usually borne by the school itself. But still there may be some expenses in the education sector, which financially backward families cannot sustain.
It was at that time that many families decided to drop out of school. As a result, the girl’s chances of becoming independent in the future also decrease a lot. The idea of ’Shikshasree’ project is to overcome all these socio-economic disadvantages.
What kind of allowance will be found under this project?
Girls of Class V to VIII will get annual allowance under ‘Shikshasree’ scheme.
Fifth grade | Rs. 500/- |
| Sixth grade | Rs. 650/- |
Seventh grade | Rs. 700/- |
| Eighth grade | Rs. 800/- |
Who can take the benefits of Shikashree project?
1) Students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) of the state can take Shikashree Scheme under the initiative of West Bengal Backward Classes Welfare Department and Tribal Development Department.
2) Should be a permanent resident of the state.
3) Students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in classes V to VIII of any school recognized by the government.
4) The annual income of the family should be below 2 lakh 50 thousand rupees.
5) There will be no other scholarship recipients.
It should be noted that the application cannot be submitted if staying in a hostel.

1) Caste Certificate,
2) Applicant’s own bank account,
3) Income proof,
4) Aadhaar Card,
5) Passport size photograph of the applicant.
Application Procedure.
To fill the Shikshashree scheme application form you have to contact your school authority. The submitted applications will be scrutinized by the school authorities, all the information will be collated and forwarded to the project officer in the district through the sub-divisional office.
