5th Pay Commission DA : The state government has announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). 16 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) is being increased to them. As a result, additional money will enter their bank account. However, this dearness allowance has not been applied to all government employees at an increased rate, this benefit is being given only to certain government employees.

According to the school education department of the West Bengal government, the dearness allowance of some employees has been increased by 16 percent. Check from when they will get DA at increased rate –
A notification issued by the School Education Department of West Bengal has informed that under the Fifth Pay Commission, teachers and teaching staff of Anglo Indian schools, DA getting schools and private Sanskrit schools in the state will get dearness allowance (DA) at the rate of 141 per cent. Till now the teachers and teaching staff of these schools used to get DA at the rate of 125%.
The school education department of the state has informed that from March 1, 2023, the teachers and teaching staff of all these schools will get their dearness allowance at an increased rate. However, the official notification did not say anything about whether they will get the dearness allowance due.
Are school teachers’ organizations satisfied with the government’s new rules?
Representatives of all the school organizations said that they have outstanding allowances due since 2021. The state government has not taken any action regarding the arrears. Besides, they have also raised questions about whether the dearness allowance due for the last two years will be paid to them.
A panel of the West Bengal state government has claimed that a decision may be taken soon on the dearness allowance dues of the teachers and teaching staff of all these schools.
Who will get this benefit regarding 16 percent increased Dearness Allowance?
This facility of 16 percent enhanced dearness allowance is only for the teachers and teaching staff of these schools in the state. Currently, other government employees, who are working in various departments of the state, are not getting any increase in dearness allowance. Presently West Bengal state government employees get Dearness Allowance at the rate of 6%. No action has yet been taken as to when their dearness allowance will be increased again.
Since when those teachers and education workers will get expensive allowance at an increased rate?
The school education department of the West Bengal government has informed that from March 1, 2023, those teachers and education workers will get dearness allowance at an increased rate. However, nothing has been specifically informed about whether they will be given ‘area’ or arrears.
